Useful Information for students

We want every student to have a great time with us in the UK – in the Grey's College (UK), classes, and during their free time!  That’s why on a student’s first day they

will be given an induction and receive a copy of Student Handbook with lots of useful information about our College, given USB memory of 8GB with the Grey's College (UK) Logo, Note Book, Pen & Pencil, and O2 Sim Card with top up voucher of £10.

Things every student should bring:

  • a passport or identification card

  • a dictionary

  • appropriate clothing (North West weather can be unpredictable …;-) ) and maybe an umbrella?!

  • any prescribed medication

  • European to UK adapter for power sockets (for charging phones, laptops etc.)

Some general health and safety tips for students:

  • Be very careful with your possessions

  • Phone the College emergency number in an emergency

  • Have your phone fully charged when you go out

  • Use taxis safely

  • Be very careful when taking cash from ATM machine and make sure no one is looking over your shoulder at your PIN number.

Keep in Mind:

  • Think First – Find the safest place to cross then stop.

  • Stop – Stand on the pavement near the kerb.

  • Use Your Eyes and Ears– Look all around for traffic, and listen.

  • Wait Until it’s Safe to Cross – If traffic is coming, let it pass.

  • Look and Listen – When it’s safe, walk straight across the road.

  • Arrive Alive – Keep looking and listening for traffic while you cross.

  • Smoking- Back in July 2007 the English government passed a new law which make it illegal for anyone to smoke in an enclosed public place and within the workplace.   No Smoking Area- fixed penalty £50.
